What came as a shock with the movement from Johannesburg to Pilanesburg, it has become a success as the 11th Annual South African Film and Television(SAFTAs) took center stage at the Sun City Superbowl on Saturday 18 March 2017.
Hosted by the awesome Katlego Maboe and Thando Thebethe saw the kings and queens of the industry coming together to witness the 11th edition of SAFTAs at a newly renovated arena which was broadcast on Sabc 2 with the The Legacy and Zulu Boy being part of the performers to bring the entertainment to the event and Khuli Chana closing of the event In his home province.
McCafe which was the headline sponsor and the front runner for the Best Actor and Actress in a Feature Film saw popular Shoki Mokgapa claiming the Best Actress and Dan Jaques Mouton taking the Best Actress.
The night couldn’t get any better as Warren Masemola took the Best Supporting Actor in a TV drama whom received a standing ovation from the audience alongside Lydia Mokgokoloshi who was honoured with the Life Time achiever award who twisted a little bit of pun with the needle scene she acted on popular soapie Skeem Saam.
Sterkinor who were part of the sponsors took over the Youth Achievement award which was awarded to Thapelo Mokoena
Amanda Black led the special tribute which was in our of those who left us with a sizzling candle ceremony which was headed by Lebone College of the Royal Bafokeng students.
The biggest awards which was decided by the public being Best Tv Presenter and Most popular TV Soap with 11 and 17 nominess respectively, saw Isibaya leading the votes and Our Perfect Wedding Presenter Thembisa Mdoda taking the Golden Horn.
